One of the staff of the Local Government Service who was interdicted for participating in the NDC’s parliamentary primaries, actually tendered in his resignation letter a month ago.
A document sighted by JoyNews indicated that Alexander Hedidor, an Assistant Director at the Kassena Nankana Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region, on August 1, 2019, wrote to the Office of the Local Government Service, to communicate his decision to resign from the Service.
One of the reasons for his decision, was to allow him contest the parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Suaman Constituency in the Western region.
“…the decision is to enable me to contest in the upcoming NDC Parliamentary Primaries in response to the clarion and persistent calls from the good people of Suaman Constituency to lead them as their Member of Parliament,” the letter read in part.

The latest development contradicts a letter announcing the interdiction of some three staff of the Service, including Mr. Alexander Hedidor, who have been accused of breaching the neutrality clause.
The two others are Alhaji Maazu Abubakar and Roland Nsoh-Billa Abire, who contested the Pru West Bolgatanga East constituency primaries, respectively.
”Your decision is in contravention of the Local Government Service Code of Conduct particularly, Canon (1): ‘the Principle of Anonymity and Permanence’ which states that ’Officers and staff of the Local Government Service shall serve the State with neutrality and anonymity in the national and local government process’,” Head of the Local Government Service, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur stated in a letter to the affected staff.
The Service said in view of the above, the Local Government Service Council authorised the interdiction of the three persons “...with immediate effect whilst the Service initiates investigation to establish the veracity or otherwise of the allegations.”
