Father of late Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed, who was shot dead by armed men in Buduburam in the Central region has described his son as disciplined and respectful.
Holding back the tears, the distraught Mohammed Osman who lives in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region said he heard the news of the Wednesday afternoon shooting after he had returned from Muslim prayers.
“It felt like a dream…I had,” he said and revealed the anxious wait for over an hour to hear any more news of his condition at the Police Hospital in Accra.
Awal Mohammed died from gunshot wounds in his lower pelvis and the left side of his back, media outlets have reported.
“God has shown his power,” his father told JoyNews Ashanti Regional correspondent, Ohemeng Tawiah, in an interview during the funeral.
The retired driver explained how he will miss his only son among eight children.
