The Communications Director of the governing NPP has said the party has no issues with comments of vote-buying made by its Ashanti Regional Chairman.
According to Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, Antwi Boasiako otherwise known as Chairman Wontumi operates in a space of freedom of speech.
Speaking to Gifty Andoh Appiah on Joy FM’s Top Story Tuesday, The Adentan MP observed that politics is ridden with all sorts of allegations and anyone who has to prove against the Chairman can pursue it if they so wish.

For the legislator, the NPP is focused on governing the country and pays no heed to the comments from Mr Wontumi.
His reaction follows comments made by Wontumi that he used money to influence the just ended NDC parliamentary primaries.
He said the NPP has favourites across the divide that they want to work with and he paid some monies intended to influence NDC delegates’ choice on Saturday.
But reacting to Wontumi, the NDC Ashanti regional chairman dismissed his such assertions.
According to him, the delegates chose those they wanted to lead them into the 2020 general elections.
He said the fact that many of the incumbents retained their seats is evidence that the delegates were not influenced by external forces.
However, two losers in the primaries have complained of undue financial influence in the primaries.
Can Boasiako be punished?
According to the laws of Ghana, persons found guilty of vote-buying and its related offences can go to jail for up to two years.
However, private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini noted that it will be difficult to hold Wontumi to his word because politicians won’t hold their own accountable.

He noted that any prosecutor that wants to take up the case would need the express written permission of the Attorney General to do so.
“In our history, I don’t find evidence of that, it doesn’t happen,” he said.
