Government has set up a committee to investigate Washington-based Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)'s claim of Ghana's continuous export of rosewood despite a ban. The report said that there are powerful Chinese investors who are still harvesting and exporting the banned wood with the help of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) members.  It also cited complicity at all levels of government.  Obviously casting government in a bad light especially in the international world, government moved to get to the bottom of the issue.   At a programme to outdoor the committee members, the Lands and Natural Resources Minister Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh said the publication of the report has caused some international partners to question the integrity of the country’s timber export trade.  The committee is headed by Benito Bio, the Deputy Lands Minister also includes Francis Manu Adabo and some Customs officers.  Watch the video
