The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is cautioning the public against transacting business with Global Ghana Airlines stating that the Airline has not been licensed to operate in the country.
The caution comes after Global Ghana Airline for the second time published the sale of tickets to passengers offering flights from Accra to Chicago.
In a statement, the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Simon Allotey stated emphatically that the regulator had not granted a license to the airline.
The statement noted, “Global Ghana Airlines is not a registered Ghanaian airline as it neither has a Ghanaian Air Carrier License (ACL) nor a Ghanaian Air Operator Certificate.
Global Ghana Airlines has not applied for approval to the GCAA to operate Charter flights from the US to Ghana. The US Department of Transport has also not advised the Authority of Global Ghana Airlines purported Charter operations to Ghana.”
The Director for Economic Regulations and Business Development at the GCAA Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur in an interview with JoyBusiness also added the airline selling tickets without having the permission of the regulator was illegal.
He added the GCAA will be consulting the United States Federal Aviation Administration to find out more about the airline and their status in the USA.
The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority earlier accused Global Ghana Airlines of misleading consumers and advised the public not to conduct business with the company.
In December 2018 Global Ghana Airlines issued a press release assuring people they were legitimate and stating that they had a new launch date of March 20, 2019.
In April 2019 they also published a video highlighting their tantalizing onboard cuisine and highlighting how they were going to launch flights in October 2018.
