Twenty businesses have been discovered from the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge TV Reality Show.
This was after weeks of intense pitching of business ideas as well as coaching from seasoned business mentors including the CEO of McDan Shipping Company, Daniel McCauley.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Daniel McCauley, urged these businesses to focus more on skills training rather than capital finance.
“At the end of the day what matters is not money. What matters is the skills you can harness to make a big difference in your endeavour.
“This entrepreneurship challenge has given you the needed skills to make a difference so take advantage of it,” he told Joy Business.
Meanwhile, some of the participants say the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge has exposed them to innovative ways of packaging products and also negotiating business deals with potential clients and investors.
The MEC seeks to identify the brightest young entrepreneurs or start-up business managers or students with an extraordinary business model to reward with the prize money to establish the next largest conglomerate in Africa and beyond.
More than 7,000 entries (from both individuals and groups) were received last year when it opened nominations for the MEC prize.
