Asante Kotoko have the backing of their former coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor to overcome Kano Pillars in the CAF Champions League.
Kotoko are set to face the Nigerians in a preliminary first round return fixture on Sunday, having lost the first leg 3-2 in Kano.

But Akonnor, believes the Porcupine Warriors have a better chance of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
“They did well in the first leg, two goals at this stage and in this competition is gold. A 1-0 win on Sunday will even be good for them to progress and I honestly think they have a better chance of going through,” Akonnor told Joy Sports.
The former Ghana captain guided Kotoko to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and won them the Normalisation Committee Special Competition Tier I.
He, however, left the club after he was made technical director following the appointment of Kjetil Zachariassen as head coach.
The aggregate winners of the Kotoko-Pillars tie will secure passage to face Hafia FC of Guinea or Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel in the second round of qualifying.
