The former Communications Minister under the Mahama-led administration has described the New Patriotic Party administration led by President Akufo-Addo as intolerant.
Dr Omane Boamah said this is evident in the government’s reaction to Joy News’ ‘Militia in the heart of the nation’ documentary which was aired in March.
In an interview on Joy News’ PM Express Monday, he said government’s reaction to the documentary was not only harsh but unnecessary as the issues, if any, could have been handled in a better manner.
”Media tolerance alone demonstrates, a clear difference between president Mahama and president Akufo-Addo,” he touted.
Dr Boamah who has written an open letter to the President questioned why government dragged Joy News to the National Media Commission (NMC).
That decision, for him, is the reason he believes the government is intolerant and that they have by that reaction marred Ghana’s image globally.
The ‘Militia in the heart of the nation’ documentary which revealed the D-Eye group, a militia affiliated to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been training at the Christianbourg Castle left government unimpressed.
They demonstrated this by hauling Joy News to the National Media Commission (NMC) who then ruled that while the documentary was in the public interest, aspects of it were sensational.
