A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court on Thursday sentenced Kwesi Seth, a fisherman, to 48 months imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry and stealing.
The accused pleaded guilty.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Eben Darko said on December 7 the convict broke into a room belonging to Kobina Abeka, a fisherman who had gone on a fishing expedition, and took away a travelling bag containing personal effects.
The bag belonged to one Isaac Mensah, who had travelled to Nigeria and had left it in the care of Abeka.
Chief Inspector Darko said when Abeka returned from fishing and detected the theft, he informed Mensah about it. Mensah came down to Ghana and through investigations found that it was the convict who stole the bag and made a report to the police.
Chief Inspector Darko said the accused also broke into the room of one Kwesi Nkum about one-and-a-half months ago and stole his travelling bag containing his personal effects.
