Mr. Kofi Adda, the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central in the Upper East Region on Tuesday urged party executives and supporters to remain united and fight for development.
He said this at a rally in Navrongo organized to announce his intention to seek for re-election as the parliamentary candidate for the area under the ticket of the party.
He explained that the situation where party executives fought among themselves was not the best and could rather cause disunity in the party.
The MP appealed to the presidential aspirants of the party to put the interest of the party above their parochial interests and support any candidate who wins as the flag bearer of the party to enable it to retain power in the 2008 election.
Mr. Adda, who won the by-election in 2003 in the Navrongo Central Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) appealed to party executives to vote him back to power to enable him to continue with his developmental projects.
He announced that a marshal plan would be put in place after February to ensure that the NPP won more seats in the Region. He stated that the two seats of the party in the Region were not enough.
“The two seats are not enough. We need to work more assiduously to win more seats in the Region”, he said.
Giving the status of development in the constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Chigeweh the Kassena-Nankana District Chief Executive (DCE) explained that the MP had brought a lot of developmental projects to the area, some being the construction of a library complex, the purchase of a fire tender for the Fire Service, construction of boreholes, pavilions for chiefs, the provision of electricity poles among others.
The DCE also stated that the MP purchased 500 bags of maize and 200 bags of rice for the flood victims in his constituency and urged party executives and supporters to give the MP the second mandate to enable him to bring more developmental projects to the area.
Solidarity messages from some constituencies including the Bolgatanga, Builsa South, Bawku Central and Chiana Paga explained that Mr. Adda was interested in the development of the area and reiterated the need for him to be voted back to power to continue with the good work.
