Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister has given the clearest indication yet of a convincing victory against Egypt in the first leg of the World Cup qualify playoffs to be played in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Sounding rather biblical and philosophical, Elvis told a cross section of the media at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi that the team is focused and is looking forward to a massive win on Tuesday.

“No Pharoah can overcome the rod of Moses on this land in Ghana, it will not happen. The God of Israel, the God of Ghana will lead us into victory,” he swore.

“The spirit of the team is very good; we are like a family; there is cohesion…The key word here is focus. The playing body is focused; the management is focused, government is focused and come Tuesday by the grace of God we will deliver,” Elvis Afriyie added.

In less than 48 hours the Black Stars will host the Pharoahs of Egypt at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in a crucial World Cup playoffs.

Ghana is seeking a third consecutive appearance at the World Cup whilst the Egyptians are looking to make their first ever appearance since 1990.

Both teams have so much respect for each other. Wahid Sisseh, who was part of the diplomatic mission that led the Egyptian delegation to Kumasi told Joy News both teams deserve a place in Brazil but only one will be there.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah insisted that one country is Ghana and government will leave no stone unturned to ensure qualification to Brazil.

He reiterated that qualification to the World Cup has so much significance to the country and they will not let that opportunity pass by.

"Over two billion people watch the World Cup and when you qualify it brings social, economic, and cultural and benefits," he added.
