Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has revealed his unquenchable thirst to lead the team to the World Cup even though they have a mighty Egypt hurdle to cross.
Brazil is on the minds of every single player in camp and we are not resting until we get there, he told Myjoyonline.com in an exclusive interview at the Manhyia Palace, Friday.
The team met with the Ashanti King to officially inform him about Tuesday’s cliffhanger and to enlist his support and blessings for the game.
The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II reminded the players that the whole of Ghana is in their hands and they cannot disappoint.
In what appears to be a reaction to the comment by the Asantehene, Gyan told Myjoyonline.com they will not let the country down.
Even though he was disappointed with the injury situation which ruled out the central defensive pair of Jonathan Mensah and John Boye, the Al Ain striker was quick to add that there are equally competent replacements to step into the shoes of the injured players.
Gyan in a selfless demeanor said he is not too much concerned about scoring on Tuesday. His ambition is to see the Stars win and win convincingly.
“But as a striker I am expected to score and when the chances come my way I will put them in the net,” he assured.
The Stars host the Pharoahs of Egypt on Tuesday in a crucial world cup play-off with the return due in Cairo next month.
Ghana is looking to make her third successive world cup appearance whilst the Egyptians are desperate to make a return after many years of missing out in the mundial.
