Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Eliot Edem Agbenorwu, says he is ready to snatch the Ketu South Constituency Parliamentary seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the decision by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey not to contest the seat in 2020 placed him at pole position to snatch the seat for the NPP.
Mr Agbenorwu said this after some members of the NPP picked nomination forms for him for the Party's impending parliamentary primaries.
The MCE said he had become the face of the Constituency through government's pro-poor policies and said he would ride on the back of that popularity to win the seat.
"I will change the voting trend in Ketu South. We are already seeing the signals. It is very clear things are changing so everyone in NPP must come on board for us to take the seat," he said.
Mr Agbenorwu said the government had done a lot for Ketu South, with development projects littering the Municipality, making NPP the most visible Party in the area.
"We have opened up Ketu South for rapid growth. It is gradually becoming the tourism and investment destination and we know the people will reward our efforts," he said.
The MCE said indications were that the people were ready to give NPP a try and called for support from all NPP members and sympathisers.
He said he was engaging first-time voters, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to make the dream of winning the Ketu South seat a reality and increasing votes for the Party's presidential candidate.
In the 2016 parliamentary elections, NPP's Maxwell Koffie Lugudor polled 4,148 votes, representing 5.57 per cent of total valid votes as against NDC's Fiifi Kwetey's 48,723 votes, representing 65.47 per cent.
