Algeria secured top spot in Group C following a thumping 3-0 victory Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
First-half goals from Islam Slimani and Adam Ounas gave the Desert Foxes the win and ultimately send the Taifa Stars packing.
Despite head coach Djamel Belmadi making eleven changes to the lineup, Algeria proved too strong for their opponent.
They took the lead after 34 minutes when former Leicester City forward Slimani collected a long pass and calmly tucked the ball into the bottom right corner.
Few minutes later, the scorer, Slimani this time set up Adam Ounas with a swift one-two and the Napoli winger made no mistake, slotting the ball past Metacha.
On the stroke of half time, Ounas got his second and Algeria’s third as he rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the empty net.
After the interval, Algeria kept probing for more goals with the likes of Mohammed Fares and Slimani coming close to scoring.
Tanzania barely threatened the defence of the Algerians until the 88th minute where Adi Yussufs header went just over the crossbar.
Algeria will face one of the best third-placed teams in the next round. -- Follow all the tournament games with #JoyAFCON.
