Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and rapper Yaa Pono have finally made peace after feuding for nearly three years.
The two were spotted in Club Onyx owned by musician D Black enjoying each other’s company.
Shatta Wale and Yaa Pono were seen laughing heartedly while some fans who were present applauded them for the maturity in handling their stale relationship.
The 'beef' between Yaa Pono and Shatta Wale began in 2017 when the former was prevented from performing at a show at the Cape Coast Stadium where the latter was the headline act.
Yaa Pono later said he was not allowed to come on stage because his performance would have overshadowed Shatta Wale’s shine.
Manager of the Dancehall artiste then, Julio Olympio, in a Facebook post suggested that Yaa Pono peddled untruth.
“… Shatta has made it a point to suggest Yaa Pono anytime event organizers ask which act he wants on his platform so why this unnecessary rants…when clearly it’s either your road manager isn’t working with time? Or rather direct your rants to the producers of the event…Same thing happened in Abetifi…Unnecessary, Unnecessary, Unnecessary hype ….” the post read.
Unhappy with the attack he was faced with on Facebook, the Amen hitmaker took to Instagram and challenged anyone to disrespect him or say “fi”.
Shata Wale took up the challenge and released the song ‘Say Fi’ to counter Pono’s claim of being Ghana's most loved lyricists.
But the Uptown Energy front-liner Yaa Pono, well known for his wordplay, brought the heat back to the game with his fired-up song “Gbe Naabu’, a song that made fun of the dancehall artiste’s mouth, his works and his lifestyle.
Many Ghanaians waded in the beef trying to figure out which song they loved more and who had the best lyrical content.
Musician cum politician, A Plus, took to his post on Facebook to adjudge Yaa Pono, the winner of the rap battle.
The two artiste since have not seen eye to eye on any issue. The intense beef got many people worried. Rapper Ex Doe described the back and forth between the acts as unhealthy for the industry.
In an interview with Dr Pounds on Hitz FM’s Hitz Gallery, the rapper said that the 'beef' between the two artistes could lead to violence.
In October 2019, Yaa Pono on Hitz FM, also said that he does not think he could ever be friends with Shatta Wale even if they resolve their differences.
According to him, he was not a friend of the ‘Borjor’ hitmaker before the beef and hardly believe they would be with its over.
However, reacting to their union some fans on twitter expressed hope that the two were going to create that friendship which will last for the long haul.
