Mr Sylvester Ackah Manu, a 61-year-old retired Civil Servant from Sefwi-Ampenkro, was adjudged the best farmer for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District at the 23rd District Farmers’ Day celebration held at Sefwi-Awaso at the weekend.
For his prize, he received a television set; half-piece of wax print; a pair of Wellington boots; machetes; insecticides and a certificate. Twenty-four other farmers were also awarded.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Kingsley Adjei-Manu, District Chief Executive, commended the farmers especially the award winners for their hard work which had sustained the nation in terms of food security and foreign exchange earnings.
The DCE advised the farmers to invest more in their children’s education and also to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable them to access quality health care.
He thanked the Ghana Bauxite Company operating in the area for its support towards the celebration.
