The Member of Parliament for Ho East, Juliet Azumah says a team of medical experts have visited the Adaklu Anyigbe District of the Volta Region to assess the wide scale incidence of hernia in the community.
According to Mrs. Azumah, the outcome of the assessment will determine how soon surgery can be performed for the victims.
Joy news visits to Sarakope and surrounding villages revealed that more than a hundred people have been afflicted by huge hernia swellings.
The Regional Minister and the District Assembly had pledged to bear the cost of treating ten of the victims who were yet to receive any medical assistance.
But speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Mrs. Azumah explained that the situation was being monitored closely.
She said the boils were huge and would require surgery, which necessitated that a lot more care went into the organisation of the healing process since the swellings could involve dealing with blood vessels and special organs.
So pathetic were the patients, some of who could barely walk with the rather heavy scrotal projections.
