A circuit court at Cape Coast on Monday granted bail to Adjei Dankwa, a driver, in the sum of GH¢5,000 (50 million cedis) with a surety to be justified for careless and inconsiderate driving, as well as negligently causing harm.
He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on January 8, 2008.
Prosecuting, Superintendent Cyril Ackom, told the court, presided over by Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, that on October 29, 2005, at about 0400 hours Dankwa, who was driving an articulated truck from Tarkwa towards Accra, drove carelessly and knocked down one Mr Kwesi Bukari a 72 year-old man at Biriwa.
He said Mr Bukari was rushed to the Saltpond hospital but he died shortly on admission.
