The Ashanti Regional Police Command has mounted search for members of two rival gangs who have been attacking each other with offensive weapons.
Police say the recent murder of a 26 year old goldsmith by seven assailants was a reprisal to an earlier clash between the rival groups.
According to Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah, the police believe the gang, led by one Kwame Appiah, is responsible for butchering Jordan Osei Yaw, at South Suntreso in Kumasi last Saturday.
The police have placed a ¢20 million ransom on the heads of members of the gang and are urging the public to assist in apprehending the violent group by providing information.
The Regional Police Command says the activities of the groups, based mainly at Bantama and Ash Town, could compromise security in the city.
A.C.P. Charles Oteng, Ag. Commander told journalists in Kumasi that activities of terror groups date back to 2004, no one has been apprehended yet.
Police intelligence, according to him, suggests the group may clash again and said the police were particularly looking for Appiah and his brother, Kojo Poku, also known as Kitani. Other members of the Bantama group declared wanted were named as Dauda, Marcus, Moses, Gyepe and Ajankuja. The police boss warned that any group of people that threatened the public peace would be dealt with ruthlessly.
