The Wassa-Akropong District Magistrate's Court on Friday granted a bail of GHc5,000 with one surety to a 20-year-old driver's mate for allegedly causing the death of a 60 year old woman, Madam Ama Mensere.
The Court also ordered the suspect, Kofi Gideon to report to the Police each day until he reappears before the court on November 26, 2007.
His plea was not taken.
The Police prosecutor, Chief Inspector John Katapu told the court that at about 2200 hours on November 11, 2007 Gideon, who was returning to nearby Wassa Dunkwa where he lives, saw two men, named only as Bogya and Osono in a fierce fight and decided to separate them.
One Nsonwa a friend of Osono attempted to hit Bogya with a piece of bamboo when he arrived on the scene but Gideon prevented him from doing so.
Unhappy with Gideon's stance, Nsonwa decided to vent his anger on Gideon and chased him with a broken battle.
It was when Gideon was fleeing for his dear life that he crashed into Madam Mensere who fell on the ground.
She was rushed to the Wassa Akropong Government hospital where she died later.
Inspector Katapu said the docket on the case had been forwarded to the Attorney General's Office for advice.
