At least three people are believed to have died after they were intoxicated and trapped in a galamsey pit. The incident happened at Gbane in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region.
Relatives of the dead have identified the bodies.
Speaking to Joy News’ Upper East regional correspondent, Albert Sore, a relative of one of the deceased said he gathered his brother died after poisoned smoke engulfed him after a scheduled blast in one of the galamsey pits.
The regional police commander, Alex Quainoo has also confirmed the incident.
The three people were rushed to the hospital but they died after a few hours later.
But Deputy National Task Force Coordinator for Small Scale Mining Association of Ghana (SSMAG) Charles Taleog Ndaanbon, said his outfit is unaware of the incident.
