Mr Anthony Evans Amoah, Western Regional Minister, has called on the people to comport themselves during electioneering campaigns to enable business activities to take place peacefully.
He made the call at a meeting of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) at Sekondi.
Mr Amoah said it behoves the people, political parties and politicians to exercise restraint, even in the wake of provocations during electioneering campaigns.
He said the whole world would be watching to find out whether the country would be able to consolidate its democracy during Election 2008.
Mr Amoah said he led an 11-member delegation to present the blueprint to develop the Region to President John Agyekum Kufuor, who accepted it for implementation.
He said all Ghanaians had a stake in ensuring the success of the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations Tournament, particularly those in the Region since they were going to be hosts.
He urged members of the RCC to educate and encourage the citizenry to ensure the general cleanliness of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and the Region as a whole as some visitors would like to visit some of the places of interest in some of the districts.
Mr Amoah asked the people to be courteous by showing the traditional Ghanaian hospitality.
"We also expect our hospitality industry, the tour guards, hotels, restaurants and other places of recreation to show that Ghana is indeed a place worth conducting business."
Mr Kwesi Biney, Ahanta West District Chief Executive, said peace and calm had returned to Princess Town and Aketekyi with the help of the security services after the disturbances caused by protracted chieftaincy dispute.
He said although the situation had returned to normalcy, many residents of the two communities who fled during the disturbances were yet to return.
Mr Biney said nobody would hurt them if they did not intend to cause harm when they returned to their communities.
