Mr Gordon Wetherell, out-going British High Commissioner, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament Mr Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi Hughes.
The two high-profile personalities discussed issues of interest relating to the parliaments of the two countries.
Mr Wetherell praised the performance of Ghana's Parliament and said it indicated the high level of leadership. "We're happy to see a country in West Africa reaching this milestone," Mr Wetherell said.
He said the performance of Parliament was at the heart of Ghana's democracy and governance and added that Parliament was a national asset in establishing a regulatory framework for good governance to exploit the new oil find to reduce poverty and achieving set targets in the Millennium Development Goals.
Mr Sekyi Hughes expressed appreciation for the "excellent relations" between the two countries and Britain's support for Ghana's Parliament.
He said deliberations on the floor and debate content showed the vibrancy of Ghana's politics and good governance.
