Kwasi Dogbe, a 19-year-old driver was on Thursday fined four million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court for unlawfully and intentionally causing harm to one Martha Ayasu.
Dogbe pleaded not guilty and would serve 18 months in prison in hard labour in default.
Dogbe hit the head of Martha with firewood at Krodua that made her unconscious and she spent weeks in hospital.
Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that in January Dogbe alleged he had information Martha had threatened to teach him a lesson.
For that reason, Dogbe threatened to kill and bury Martha before the burial and funeral rites of her mother that was pending.
The prosecutor said the Mmerantehene of the village and his elders summoned Dogbe before them in order to advise him to desist from making such threatening utterances but he poured insults on them.
Attempts by the Nkosuohene and the Chief of the Ewe Community to find amicable solution to the issue was also met with insults from Dogbe.
Mr Idan said Dogbe got very angry and pulled the hair of Martha, slapped her and hurled her to the ground before she was rescued.
Dogbe later picked firewood, hit the head of Martha who fell unconscious and was taken to Asamankese Government Hospital but was referred to the Saint Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.
Dogbe went into hiding but was arrested on March 03.
