President John Agyekum Kufuor has appointed Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Deputy Majority Leader as a Minister of State.
This was contained in a communication to Parliament read by Mr Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi Hughes, Speaker of Parliament, at the commencement of business on Wednesday.
The announcement received a loud applause from the floor of the House with Minority MP's especially, registering their approval of the nomination with shouts of "approved, approved".
Mr Kyei-Mensah Bonsu was until the recent cabinet reshuffle, the Chief Whip on the Majority side.
Mr Hughes said the appointment has been referred to the appointments committee where he would be vetted and approved.
