A Tema Magistrate's Court, presided over by Mr E. A. Senyo, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a food vendor to answer charges of failing to subject her workers to medical screening.
Evert Quarshie, Ashaiman-based traditional Ghanaian food vendor will face charges of failing to obtain medical certificates for her seven workers and also operating under unhygienic conditions.
When the case was called on Friday she failed to appear before the court, although she was issued with summons notice, according to Mr Issah Alhassan, prosecuting officer of the Environmental Health Department.
The accused is expected to appear in court on November 22, Mr Alhassan said, adding that she had ignored persistent advice to medically screen her employees for certification.
He said the accused was preparing and selling food for sale to the public under unsanitary conditions, adding that there were cobwebs and dirt at her bar.
