The Kadjebi District Assembly is to build a multi-purpose four-storey office complex at an estimated cost of 1,447,000 Ghana cedis to house all decentralized ministries, departments and agencies for effective administration. Mr. Kofi Adjei Ntim, District Chief Executive, who disclosed this to GNA, said plans were being made for a pre-financing scheme by a strategic investor, to build and furnish and hand-over the building within a year. He said the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) had completed designs and feasibility studies and the project and work on it would start as soon as an agreement was reached. Mr. Ntim said 93 kilometres stretch of roads would be rehabilitated under the prioritised road network programme to be considered for the 2008 budget, and mentioned the Ahamansu Junction-Ameyo-Pampawie-Dapaa Junction stretch covering a distance of 28.5 km one of the roads that would be repaired. He said the project would involve spot improvement, surfacing, tarring, re-sealing, re-shaping and pothole patching. Under the Community-Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP), Mr. Ntim said work on education and health infrastructure that would cost 138,600 Ghana cedis was at various stages of completion in the district. He also said under the CBRDP, work on the Ahamansu-Todome road network estimated to cost 130,000 Ghana cedis was yet to commence with the Olobobi-Koru Junction road estimated to cost 87,600 Ghana cedis was 73 per cent complete in addition to the sinking of two boreholes. Mr Ntim said 24 boreholes were being sunk at an estimated cost of 168,000 Ghana cedis, under the Community Water and Sanitation Project, being funded by DANIDA and the Assembly. He said latrines for basic schools were under construction at the estimated cost of 37,500 Ghana cedis with additional 11 latrines approved for construction at the cost of 57,800 Ghana cedis. Mr. Ntim said the Assembly would supply agricultural inputs to farmers, to improve agricultural productivity towards eliminating poverty in the district. He called for the observance of environmental laws of which the Assembly would lead the crusade by embarking on public awareness exercises. Source: GNA
