The Ghana Education Service (GES) has ordered all Heads of school in Ghana to suspend this year's 6th March celebrations and its related activities in schools.
In a press release Monday, signed by the Deputy Director-General of the Service, Anthony Boateng, he stated that this directive is as a result of "the high prevalence rate of Covid-19 cases in the country".
"Consequently, Management of the Ghana Education Service wishes to inform all Regions that the 64th Independence Anniversary Parade on the 6th March 2021 has been suspended," the statement said.
The statement also urged all Heads of school to ensure that its members comply with the notice.
This follows a letter dated 11th February 2021 and signed by the Chief of Staff and the President of Ghana directing the suspension of this year's 6th March celebrations and all its related activities in Regions, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country.
