A Tamale Circuit Court presided over by his Lordship William Twumasi Appiah has convicted 51-year-old Abugri Akuri, a.k.a stone, to 12 years imprisonment for defilement.
The 51-year-old defiled a five-year-old girl in Diare in the Savelugu Municipality.
Abugri Akuri, who was convicted on his own plea, begins his sentence at the Tamale prisons Friday.
According to JoyNews earlier report, the victim's grandmother on July 19 sent her to collect money from the convict in his house.
But upon several hours of waiting, the grandmother decided to follow up only to find Abugri having sexual intercourse with the little girl in his house.
The matter was reported to the Savelugu Police for further investigation and Abugri was arrested.
Abugri was remanded by the Circuit court. He reappeared July 23, 2021 and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
