About 5,000 Muslims in the Ashanti, Greater Accra, and Upper West Regions are receiving food donations as part of the 2025 Ramadan Food Basket Project.
Managed by Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, the initiative aims to provide food to vulnerable and marginalised Muslims before Ramadan to ensure they can fast with ease throughout the Holy Month.
For the past three years, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KS Relief) of Saudi Arabia has been funding the distribution of food items to thousands of beneficiaries in Ghana through Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, its local partner in the country.

Each food basket includes 25 kilograms of rice, 25 kilograms of maize, 4 kilograms of beans, 2 litres of vegetable oil, 0.8 kilograms of seasoning cubes, 1 kilogram of salt, and 2 kilogram of tomato paste.
At the launch of the project in Kumasi, Executive Director of Markaz Aleawn Alyaqin Humanitarian Service, Ismail Mohammed Kamil said that the initiative remains a symbol of hope for many families in Ghana, offering essential food supplies during Ramadan.
Mr Kamil noted that the distribution would ensure thousands of families have access to nutritious food throughout the fasting period.

“The beneficiaries have testified and the items can cater for at least six people for the entire month,” he said.
He mentioned that the selection criteria prioritise orphans, aged, single mothers or widows, and individuals with physical disabilities, before considering anyone else for inclusion in the distribution list.
The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Ghana, Sultan Abdurahman Al Dakhel, stated that the distribution of food items reflects the humanitarian and social efforts being made by the center in various countries worldwide.
He expressed gratitude to the Saudi Government and KS Relief for their charitable initiatives, which have been positively impacting lives for many years.
The Ambassador also extended his sincere appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Government for maintaining strong cooperation between the two nations for the mutual benefit of their people.
In addition to food aid, KS Relief has been providing various humanitarian services to communities across the country for several years.
The Executive Director revealed that, in the past two years, KS Relief successfully constructed 52 solar-powered boreholes in Ghana, providing clean drinking water to thousands of people. Additionally, 14 more boreholes are currently under construction this year.
He emphasised that these interventions are evidence of KS Relief’s dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians through sustainable and impactful projects.
Mr. Kamil expressed deep appreciation for KS Relief's generosity and humanitarian spirit and prayed for Allah's continued guidance and protection for all those involved in mobilizing resources for the project.
