3 businessmen declared wanted

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have mounted a search for the arrest of three persons who stole cheques belonging to Airways Catering Limited and succeeded in withdrawing $37,490 from the company’s account at the Agricultural Development Bank. The suspects, James Addo, 38, Joseph Blankson, 55 and Kirk Grattan Alan, 62, all businessmen, were alleged to have colluded with some staff of the company to steal the cheques. The Public Relations Officer of the CID, Inspector Joseph Benefo Darkwah, said an Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for their arrest. He alleged that the suspects have been going to institutions and companies claiming they had contacts to secure contract deals for their clients for fees that run into millions of cedis. Inspector Darkwah said investigations were underway, but added that the police had not arrested any staff member of the Airways Catering Company. He said it is believed that the suspects might be hiding around Kotobabi, Maamobi, Adabraka, Accra New Town, Pig Farm, Tip-Toe Lane, all in Accra or might have absconded to another region and therefore appealed to the public who have information about the whereabouts of the suspects to report to the Police CID on 021-775769, 0243252348 or 0277311866 or to the nearest police station. In a related development, Inspector Darkwah said the Police have also mounted a search for two persons, whose names were only given as Tanko, 35 and Amino, 36, for robbery. He said the suspects both Nigerians, are believed to be involved in a robbery at Swalaba, Kumasi and might be hiding in Techiman, Tamale, Sandema, Yeji, Ejura, Nkawkaw or might have travelled to Togo or Niger.
