The media launch for the 2024 Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup took place on Monday, July 23, at the Gbese Mantse Palace.
This year’s tie will be between Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 11.
Nii Armah Opah II, who represented the Gbese Mantse, called for the celebration of love, peace and unity during the Homowo festivities and prayed for an exciting game.
Dr. Ishmael Nii Amasa Dodoo, an elder, also stated that the Ga people are known to be peaceful, pace setters for nation building and contributed much to Ghana in terms of land and human resource.
He urged Ghanaians to preserve the peace and unity they are enjoying.
Former Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member, Sammy Anim Addo, mentioned that colts teams will entertain fans from 10am before the British High Commission engages Nii Ayi Bonte XI, a selected side of friends of the Gbese Mantse.
He hinted that the most exciting player in the game will receive a special trophy before disclosing that gate fees would be sold at 200 cedis for VVIP, 100 cedis for VIP, 50 cedis for regular and 10 cedis for popular stand.
However, Alex Ntiamoah’s Box Office has been mandated to sell 5ghc tickets to people in Gbese and surrounding communities in Ga Mashie.
There was an assurance from representatives of both clubs to display good football to entertain the fans.
Boxing champions in the community, mostly from the Bronx Gym, Jacob Laryea WBO Africa Super Welterweight champion, John Laryea WBO Featherweight champion, were all present to also display their respective belts as part of promoting the event.
Other dignitaries from Gbese and the sporting fraternity graced the event.
