The third edition of the Akwaaba Festival has been officially launched.
Over the past two years, the festival has brought together patrons from the Diaspora and within Ghana.
The beauty of unravelling culture and heritage is to be unveiled again this year through dance, food, music, and more.
Held at the National Theatre on January 26, 2024, the organisers of the festival are optimistic that this year's edition comes with loads of excitement and enthralling performances.
Anticipation and hopes are already high for the activities of the main event, as they trooped to the launch to witness the programme criteria for the celebration.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs at the Ghana Tourism Authority, Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, who massively supports the initiative, assured that the authority is doing its best to move the initiative to higher ground as part of its global promotion agenda.
According to him, "GTA pledges its continuous support and cooperation for the promotion and development of domestic tourism in Ghana through the network, collaboration and partnership of Akwaaba Festival."

He also applauded the organisers of the festival for such an initiative because it helps the youth develop an interest in the tourism, arts, and culture sectors.
This, he said, enables them to study culture-related courses, thereby creating employment and revenue for themselves and Ghana at large.
"The Akwaaba Fest obviously will offer participants the opportunity to learn each other's culture, history, and heritage across all 16 regions and thus create national cohesion and a sense of belongingness," he said.
In attendance were other dignitaries, including veteran actor David Dontoh, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, and other arts and culture enthusiasts.

The 2024 Akwaaba Festival is a three-day celebration that will commence with an opening ceremony from Wednesday, March 6 to Friday, March 8 at the National Theatre.
Activities of the festival will include the sale and exhibition of Ghanaian art and crafts, traditional textiles and accessories, local beverages, and a food bazaar, amongst many captivating site attractions.
Audiences will also be fed with unlimited Ghanaian music with a two-day free music concert sponsored by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). Season 2 of Miss Akwaaba will be launched as well, starting in April.
Interested exhibitors and vendors are urged to call 030 222 0715 or 053 548 1988 to book a space for the exhibition, promote their products, and showcase the cultural beauty of the country.
All are invited to witness the festival as we wear Ghana, sing Ghana, dance Ghana, eat, drink, and celebrate Ghana with the theme, "Telling the rich history and traditions of the Ghanaian culture and hospitality."
The 2024 Akwaaba Festival is organised by Ceejay Multimedia in partnership with MUSIGA and supported by the Ghana Tourism Authority.
