The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Elections Committee has announced that Kurt Okraku quest for a second tenure in office as president of the football governing body will be unopposed.
The Committee on Tuesday released the list of qualified candidates vying for various positions at the FA and incumbent, Mr Okraku will be the only candidate who will have his name on the ballot paper for the presidential post following the disqualification of George Afriyie.
For the Executive Council (ExCo) positions, Alhaji Akanbi is the only candidate who has been disqualified from the Premier League representative slot as former Black Stars Kwasi Appiah contest nine others for five places.
Randy Abbey, Kingsley Osei Bonsu, Nana Sarfo Oduro, Frederick Acheampong, Dr Tony Aubynn, all incumbent ExCo members will face the test of Edmund Ackah, Onyina Asenso, Raphael Gyambrah, Eloeny Amande, and Kwasi Appiah as they seek to keep their seats on the powerful decision-making body of the FA.
Vice president Mark Addo leads the list of candidates seeking to represent Division One League Clubs on the ExCo, with Samuel Anim Addo, Gideon Fosu, Alexander Ababio, and Eugene Nobel all in contention.
Gifty Oware-Mensah will represent Women's football on the ExCo, replacing Madam Habiba Attah.
The Regional Football Associations will have as many seven incumbent candidates going to the polls unopposed. Johnson Oduro who was seeking to unseath Samuel Aboabri for the Greater Accra seat has been disqualified.
In the Western Region, Bismark Owusu Mensah was also disqualified from the race leaving Simon Ehomah to have a solo run.
Daniel Agbogah will keep his seat as head of football in Volta Region after his rival, Matthew Dowuli Kadu, was deemed not to have met the requirements.
In the Upper West, only Yahaya Sadugu Daudi passed the test. Ahmed Baba Moro and Kwame Mumuni were all unsuccessful with their bids.
Abdul Hayye Yartey will battle Robert Duncan for Central Region football chief, while Linford Asamoah (Eastern Region), Mahamadu Abu-Hassan (Northen Region), and Osei Tutu Agyemang (Ashanti Region) will go unopposed.
With Raphael Gyambrah seeking a seat at the ExCo, the Brong Ahafo Region will have a new leader. Dickson Kyere-Duah, Dr Charles Osei Antoh, and Mershack Asante Ameyaw are the candidates vying for this seat.
Salifu Shaibu Zida will have beat to Abel Alonort Asoogo if he's to stay on head of football in the Upper East Region.
Meanwhile, the election date has been rescheduled to October 5, 2023.
