Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has urged Ghanaians not to chastise Otto Addo over his 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Africa’s all-time top scorer in the history of the World Cup believes it will only be fair for Ghanaians to make comments about the squad after the Black Stars’ opener against Portugal in Qatar.
Otto Addo has faced huge backlash following big-name omissions from his final squad like Joseph Paintsil, Jeffrey Schlupp, and Felix Afena-Gyan.
In a Twitter post, the former Ghana captain called on Ghanaians to back the Black Stars to succeed in the tournament.
“Everyone has shared his or her opinion about the Black Stars, [the] 26-man squad is out now. So, what we have to do now is to support those in camp now,” Gyan said.
“If u have any comments, wait till after the first game of the tournament. But for now, let’s pray for the team to deliver.”
The Black Stars opened camp on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi and will play Switzerland in a warm-up friendly on Thursday, November 17 before heading to Qatar for the Mundial.
Ghana will face Portugal on November 24 before coming up against South Korea four days later and Uruguay on December 2 to close the group phase.
