Former Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, says the Black Stars were unlucky not to progress from the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup despite giving their all.
Ghana suffered an early exit at the showpiece on Friday after losing to Uruguay in their final group game on Friday, December 2.
The Black Stars’ exit also saw Otto Addo reign as the Ghana gaffer end as he announced his resignation during his post-match conference after the loss.
Speaking in a media briefing to explain his decision to step down and say his goodbyes, the 48-year-old praised the players for their effort at the World Cup.
“I’m very proud of the boys. They gave their all. Sometimes it’s bad luck, this also part of football — the ugly side of football. Sometimes you’re lucky other times you’re not lucky,” he said.
“But they did all they could and sometimes it’s not in their hands.”
After exiting the World Cup, the Black Stars' next assignment will be to try and secure qualification to the next Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Ivory Coast.
