Ghanaians on Twitter are infuriated after Ghana conceded a controversial penalty against Portugal in the second half of their opening game in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
A flick pass to Cristiano Ronaldo was intercepted by Mohammed Salisu in the eighteen-yard box in the 62nd minute of the game which called for that controversial penalty kick that Ronaldo put behind the goal keeper.
Many of the netizens are displeased with the penalty decision by the referee and wish there was a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review for that decision to be cancelled.
On a second occasion, Portugal’s winger, Rafael Leao was in an offside position when he netted the second goal but for the second time, a VAR did not happen and the goal was accepted.
The two “unpleasant” decisions have caused Ghanaians to be outraged by the outcome of the game.
No VAR for this? Penalty decided outright! Africa you're on your own.... pic.twitter.com/Q5xGhpdybc

You had to post this video, so that penalty was bound to happen. Shame on you. Racists https://t.co/PAK2wkravI

Leao is clearly offside. No VAR check or nothing. Utter garbage the way they treat African countries pic.twitter.com/BTnH7stWZb

It’s better we played with No VAR than this stupid useless VAR at this World Cup, Rubbish !!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡 pic.twitter.com/FbTg9QWqKu
Portugal's second goal in #FIFAWorldCup scored by Felix was offside. Replays minimally used to conceal the fact. No VAR Check, no lines drawn. Officials hell bent on making sure Portugal go through by any means possible. BUT: the man was glaringly 100% offside. It is a shame. pic.twitter.com/Tjx1Gp0ifA

@FIFAcom are you happy with what just happened? No VAR lines to even check for possible offside … there you go … very shameful @noVAR @sportbible pic.twitter.com/xcEbWcywl7

In the end, Ghana lost to Portugal by 3 goals to 2 and would have to at all cost ensure it gets a win in the next two Group H matches against Uruguay and South Korea.
