The Cape Coast Stadium will be ready in time to host the game between Ghana and Nigeria next week, Joy Sports understands.

According to sources, the feedback given to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) by a CAF inspection team member, Ivan Kutinga, the stadium will be ready three days before the first leg of the crunch tie.

The official venue for the first leg encounter has been in doubt following its bad state after Ghana’s 65th Independence Day anniversary celebrations on March 6.

The National Sports Authority (NSA) commenced works to get the stadium in its best shape for the fixture as fears of moving the game outside Ghana continues to speculate.

Ivan Kutinga was in Ghana over the weekend to inspect the Baba Yara Stadium and the Cape Coast Stadium’s readiness for the crucial game between the Black Stars and the Super Eagles.

He was tasked to send images of the two stadia following correspondences between FA and FIFA/CAF after the latter notified the Ghana football governing body a team will be inspecting the facility.

JoySports understands, GFA requested that, a team inspects the Baba Yara stadium, too, though they are unsure it will be considered the match.

The inspection of the stadia were done on Sunday and Monday and we understand the game is more likely to be played in Ghana, with the CAF inspection member describing the Baba Yara Stadium, which is touted as an alternative, as excellent.

The Cape Coast Stadium is also said to be ready in nine days and will be in good condition to host the encounter.

Ghana hosts Nigeria on March 25 before taking the trip to Abuja four days later for the reverse fixture.
