The Volta Region has recorded 52 murder cases in 2009 as against 35 in 2008, the Regional Police Commander and Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr David Ampah Bennin has said.
He told the GNA in an interview that the murders resulted from fighting, stabbing and suspected ritual sacrifices.
According to him, these murders would have been avoided had those involved exercised patience and committed themselves to resolving their disputes amicably and that "some people want to get rich quick by using human parts for rituals."
Mr Ampah Bennin said the police would not relent in efforts to enforce the law to protect law abiding citizens against those with criminal inclinations.
