About 200 golfers have so far registered for this year's Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship scheduled to tee off at Tema on Saturday, September 1 to Sunday, September 2.
Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Tema Country Golf Club who announced this at Tema on Monday, said the two-day Scratch event, which is open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country is to be sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited.
He said the championship which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Tema Country Golf Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 as the entry requirements for the Men and the Ladies respectively.
The professionals would battle each other in a hectic 72-Hole event with the juniors engaging in a Nine-Hole action.
Paul Nukunu of the Achimota Golf Club would be defending the Men's trophy he won last year.
Mr Ransford Nyarko, Marketing Officer of Millicom Ghana Limited said the sponsorship of the event forms part of the company's corporate responsibility to assist the community in which they operates.
Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports is to be the Special Guest of Honour.
