Two nomadic herdsmen, Bello Alahassan and Abubakar Mohammed, are currently in the grips of the Atebubu police in the Brong-Ahafo Region for allegedly pulling a pump action gun on a number of farmers.
They reportedly resorted to that action after they (farmers) had complained that their (herdsmen's) cattle were destroying their crops.
The incident, which happened at Hiamantsine in the Atebubu Amantin District, is being investigated by the police whilst the suspects are in police cells.
Brong-Ahafo Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Christopher Tawiah, told Daily Guide that cattle belonging to Alhaji Mohammed Denjuma destroyed beans and yam farm of one Kwaku Libaleyo at Hiamantsine.
Mr Kwaku Libaleyo, together with 10 others, went to the cattle ranch and confronted the two herdsmen caretakers on the farm and asked them why they allowed the animals to destroy the crops. This resulted in an argument.
In the confrontation that ensued, Bello pulled out a pump action gun on the farmers, but they (farmers) managed to overpower him and seized the gun from him.
They then arrested the herdsmen and handed them over to the police together with the gun.
