Seventeen mothers who delivered on the 25th of December 2019, from two hospitals in the Western Region have benefited from an annual baby hamper donation for babies born on Christmas day by  Telecommunication giant MTN Ghana  The donation forms part of a decision which was taken by MTN foundation some eight years ago to spread love during the festive season. South –West Manager of MTN Ghana David Woasey, Speaking to the media after the presentation said the gesture was part of the company’s long desire to assist in the health delivery in the country, appreciate the babies and to put smiles of the faces of those who deliver on Christmas day. “As we all know, this is the season we share gifts. For MTN, it’s been a ritual for us to give hampers to newly born babies since 2011 and this gesture is happening across the length and breadth of our country. This is also in line with our commitment to contribute to the progress of health delivery in the country." Though the babies were born on 25th December 2019, the hampers were presented on 26th which is celebrated worldwide as boxing a day. Which means these seventeen babies received their first-ever gift on earth during Boxing Day from MTN Ghana. Deputy Director of Nursing at the Effia Nkwanta Hospital, Justina Amo Yartey expressed profound gratitude to MTN for their kind gesture but urged the telecommunication giant to adopt some of the wards at the hospital. "We are pleading with MTN to come and adopt some of our wards so that we can say MTN ward so that you can make such wards your projects." Eleven hampers were given to mothers who delivered at the Effia Nkwanta Regional hospital and six were given to mothers at the Essikado hospital.
