Some 1,400 artisans in the country have been selected to be trained and awarded a certificate that will help them to seek formal employment within the construction sector.
The programme which is being implemented by CIMAF Ghana in partnership with Kumasi Technical University is to support government effort to enhance the skills of Ghanaian.
The beneficiaries will be trained with modern technology to enhance their skills within the construction industry.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the Vice Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University Prof Osei-Wusu Achaw noted that, industry are the direct beneficiaries of products of the university but they hardly get partnership of such.
He therefore expressed appreciation to the CIMAF Group and urged others to follow suit.
The Technical Director of CIMAF Ghana, Berzouki AbdelKarim added that, the Company Being the first to introduce five grades of cement to revamp the once neglect grading system within the production sector of cement is pleased with the outcome that has caused some of the key manufacturers to produce the various grades for the market.
He added that, this training initiative is a step further to boost the skills of artisans with a formal training on the proper application of materials for maximum benefit to the construction industry.
He expressed joy about this partnership with Kumasi Technical University and its IRID department which is also a boost to governments’ quest to make TVET an engine of growth and also provide a great opportunity for employment to the teaming youth.
