One hundred teams will this year battle for the ultimate prize as the group with the best project in tackling societal challenges.
The Accra International Conference Centre will host over 3,000 guests for the much anticipated GSTEP Exhibition and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 24th and 25th January, 2024.
The events will bring together students, teachers, STEM enthusiasts, heads of educational institutions, and key stakeholders in the public and private sectors to explore and celebrate the innovativeness of Ghana’s youth in addressing problems in communities.
The 100 finalist teams in the challenge will showcase products and solutions that tackle issues in their communities. The finalists are junior high school students from the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions who have developed unique products using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
On January 25, 2024, a public-private partnership conference will be held in the main hall of the Accra International Conference Centre. The event will bring together stakeholders in the STEM, education, and private and public sectors to discuss issues related to STEM education and share insights on the development of STEM education in Ghana. The theme for the event is “Private and public partnerships forging the future of Ghana: STEM education as a stepping stone.”
The awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the Accra International Conference Centre to celebrate and award outstanding teams and personalities who contributed to the success of the programme. In attendance will be the special guest of honour, Frema Opare, Chief of Staff, and the guest of honour, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. The ceremony will be graced by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and renowned experts in the fields of STEM, among others.
The GSTEP Challenge encourages young people to think innovatively and creatively about addressing problems in their communities using STEM.
The programme supports the students in developing prototypes of ideas they have developed for the challenge while providing them with soft skills, including communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The programme is being implemented by a consortium led by the DreamOval Foundation in partnership with MEST Africa, Foundervine, Challenge Works, and DEXT Technology.
The GSTEP Challenge enjoys massive media support from Joy Prime.
