Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama, presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention, PNC, will today, Thursday, July 3, take his turn at the Institute of Economic Affairs/Joy FM’s Election 2008 Presidential Debate at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, Accra.

The forum seeks to bring the presidential candidates face-to-face with the public to share their visions and plans for the nation, and answer questions from the public.

It has so far hosted Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of the Convention People’s Party, Professor J.E.A. Mills of the National Democratic Congress and Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party.

The programme is an initiative of the IEA in furtherance of its objectives of promoting private-sector-led economic development and assist in the process of democratic consolidation in Ghana and throughout Africa.

The IEA says it is convinced “Those who wish to govern must allow themselves to be subjected to probing questions by the people, to ensure that they understand their concerns and have the capacity to address them.”

The 5pm encounter is transmitted live from the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, by Joy 99.7FM and at Myjoyonline.com, Asempa FM and the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, with the latter also televising the programme live on national TV.

(You may post your questions for Dr. Mahama here ahead of the programme so the organisers may put them across to him.)
