The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) is calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure the police service speeds up actions and processes to arrest and prosecute the 17-year-old suspect.
The Center also has also called on the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry to, as a matter of urgency, reach out to the family of the victim to provide the necessary support “under this difficult circumstance.”
CDD Ghana further urged the district offices of the Department of Social Welfare and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to embark on an intensive public education in Assin Adadientem and its environs on issues of child protection, sexual abuse, and other related laws.
The Central Regional Police has officially charged a 17-year-old boy, Kwabena, with defilement.
This follows a search and arrest exercise in the community by the police on Wednesday night and Thursday dawn.
The suspect has absconded after the alleged defilement became public.
The latest incident, which became public after a Joy News report, is one of many said to have taken place in the Central Region town.
Meanwhile, a women’s rights organization is demanding justice for all Assin Fosu rape victims.
Modern Women of Wisdom International (MWOW) says is sad to note that "innocent girls who have a greater chance of escaping poverty through education and live more productive lives could be subjected to such heartlessness."
In a release, MWOW said it has pledged to seek justice for the oppressed in the society.

WE SEEK JUSTICE FOR ALL THE RAPED VICTIMS AT ASSIN– MWOW
We the members of Modern Women of Wisdom International (MWOW), an all-female public-spirited organization are still in a state of mourning and desolation when we read the numerous stories of rape cases at Assin in the Central Region of Ghana.
It is sad to note, that, innocent girls who have a greater chance of escaping poverty through education and live more productive lives could be subjected to such heartlessness. The innocent girls whose ages ranges from 7months to 16 years were raped by some able-bodied men who had no sympathy for humanity.
As an Organization of Women who have pledged to seek justice for the oppressed in the society, we are totally embarrassed by the shocking news of rape cases emanating from the Assin area on our news desk.
Research shows children have strong curiosity to their surroundings as their mobility increases. Therefore, besides having a positive firm discipline, parents should be alert to possible abuse of their kids by unassuming persons.
Parents should kindly listen to the emotional expressions of their children emphatically as most rapists threaten their victims with death thereby decreasing their self-confidence, performance in school, physical health and social relationships.
We, therefore, call on the Ghana Police Service to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of these monstrous crimes to serve as a deterrent to “FUTURE RAPISTS”. The Police must leave no stone unturned by bringing all the perpetrators of these scandalous acts in Assin to book.
Again, we call on the NCCE and the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to institute a robust advice system, spelling out the need for our dear chiefs to protect their subjects from evil-minded persons by allowing the laws of Ghana to work without fear or favour.
Last but not least, we beseech Civil Society Groups, the Gender Ministry, the Ministry of Information, research institutions etc.to embark on ground-breaking investigations to find out the reasons behind this rampant rape cases in the area.
LONG LIVE GHANA,
LONG LIVE MWOW.
