Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa, the 13-year-old student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has credited her success in the academia and life, to the grace of God.
Speaking to JOYFM’s Kojo Yankson on the Super morning show on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, which marks International Girl Child Day, Ruth said her success in school is owed to the grace of God coupled with her efforts and determination to rise to the top.
Ruth sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at age 9 while in the first year at Justice International School in Kumasi.

She said, she did not see her age or sex as any form of disadvantage and that she saw no mentionable difference between she and her classmates.
She gained admission to St. Louis Senior High School also in Kumasi and completed in the year 2017 at age 12.
She also described her experience as a great one devoid of all the drama and stereotype that is associated with being a girl.

Ruth, who is currently reading BSc Mathematics at KNUST says she is using her current course of study as a stepping stone as she believes, Mathematics will broaden her mind to assimilate greater things.
The teenager said she intends to read computer science later in life and use those skills to help mother Ghana.

She advised young girls her age to place God first and never relegate him for any reason and to take their books seriously and also heed the advice of their parents, since their parents know what is good for them.
An amalgamation of these factors will grant them the success they seek, she admonished.
